Marcie Draper
Marcie Draper is a lifelong educator whose heart and passion are to help all learners recognize their God-given talent academically and personally. For 31 years, Marcie has worked as a special education teacher, a general classroom teacher, an interventionist, a tutor, and successfully ran an educational program in eight schools for the State of Tennessee. She has worked in both the public school system and private education.
Feeling God's calling to help students in a new way, Marcie is furthering her education by earning her Masters of Education in Dyslexia Therapy. With this designation, Marcie will be a Board-Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), a designation that is the gold standard in dyslexia therapy.
Marcie personally understands the learning journey parents and students affected by dyslexia must navigate. Whether you need help interpreting report results, seeking dyslexia therapy, or determining appropriate accommodations for your child, Marcie's wealth of knowledge and resources makes her the advocate you want on your team.
Lindsey Ammend
For nearly two decades, Lindsey has dedicated herself to the art and science of teaching. Her journey in education has taken her through both the public and private school sectors, shaping young minds in kindergarten, first, and second grades. With a robust educational foundation, Lindsey earned her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Mississippi, followed by a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. Currently, she is furthering her expertise by pursuing a specialist degree in dyslexia therapy from William Carey University.
Lindsey’s professional path is deeply intertwined with her personal life. Married to Greg and a mother to two children, sixteen-year-old Maddie and eight-year-old Luke, she balances the demands of family life with her passion for teaching. Her experiences at home have only enriched her teaching career. Having a child with dyslexia and dysgraphia, Lindsey has firsthand experience with the challenges faced by students with learning differences. This personal connection has fueled her commitment to developing innovative methods to support students who learn differently.
Known affectionately as the “tips and tricks teacher,” Lindsey has always sought to find creative and effective ways to help her students succeed. Her passion for addressing the needs of all learners, particularly those with dyslexia, has been a driving force in her career. Lindsey is thrilled to be at the forefront of teaching scientifically researched and tested methods to support students with dyslexia, ensuring they grow in the most beneficial ways.
Beyond the classroom, Lindsey’s life is filled with love and activity. The family resides in Collierville, where they enjoy spending time with their two giant fur babies. Lindsey’s interests extend to baseball, house remodeling, and organizing weddings on the side. Her multifaceted life and commitment to education make her a remarkable advocate for students with learning differences, and she eagerly looks forward to each new chapter in her teaching journey.
Missy Coudriet
Missy has dedicated her life to education and supporting young learners. She began her journey at the University of Memphis, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Human Development and Learning, concentrating on Early Childhood Education. Graduating Cum Laude in 2002, she laid a strong foundation for her teaching career.
Her passion for literacy and learning led her to pursue further education. In 2021, she completed her Masters’ in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. Currently, she is enhancing her expertise by studying to become a Dyslexia Therapy Specialist at William Carey University.
For the past twenty years, Missy has taught first grade, kindergarten, and preschool at Briarcrest Christian School. Her extensive experience in the classroom has given her a deep understanding of the unique challenges that young learners face.
Missy's decision to specialize in dyslexia therapy is driven by her desire to equip her students with the best research-based techniques to improve their learning and reading skills. She is committed to using multisensory strategies within a structured literacy program to support and encourage students with dyslexia, ensuring they receive the help they need to succeed.
Missy's dedication to her profession is matched by her commitment to her family. She is married to Danny, and together they have a large, blended family. Her son Owen, a 2022 graduate of Briarcrest, now attends the University of Arkansas. Her daughter Caroline and son Oliver are both students at Briarcrest, reflecting the family's deep ties to the school community.
Missy's journey has been profoundly personal. Over the years, she has taught many students diagnosed with dyslexia and has often felt the frustration of knowing her students were struggling without having the resources or knowledge to provide the best support. Her pursuit of a Dyslexia Therapy Specialist degree is a testament to her commitment to making a significant difference in the lives of her students and their families. With this advanced training, Missy aims to transform her classroom into a place where every student, regardless of their challenges, can thrive and succeed.
In her free time, Missy can be found attending her son’s baseball, football, and basketball games and her daughter’s dance recitals and competitions. She loves calling the HOGS with her oldest son at The University of Arkansas. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and going on vacations. She and her family attend Germantown Baptist Church. She looks forward to her new role as a Dyslexia Therapist and advocating for her students and families.
Jenny Asbury
Jenny Asbury, our Reading Readiness Specialist, is a lifelong educator who strongly focuses on the foundational concepts needed for children to read. With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and certifications in the Orton Gillingham Classroom, Neuhaus Reading Readiness Instructional Program, and Neuhaus Structured Literacy Modules, Jenny has developed a deep expertise in early literacy. She fosters essential literacy skills such as print motivation and print awareness (interest in and enjoyment of books), letter knowledge, vocabulary, narrative skills, and phonological awareness.
Throughout her career, Jenny has demonstrated her ability to accommodate diverse learning needs by using a variety of teaching styles and methods. Her adaptability, empathy, and patience enable her to support students who learn at different paces. For four years, Jenny taught 2nd grade at Rossville Christian Academy, where she was particularly effective in identifying struggling readers and implementing sequential, simultaneous, and structured multi-sensory approaches to improve their skills. She has also taught 7th-grade Geography/Life Science and coordinated the Before- and Aftercare program, showcasing her strong organizational and communication abilities.
In her previous role at Tara Oaks Elementary within Collierville Schools, Jenny served as a library assistant. There, she cultivated a love for reading among students by introducing them to a wide range of genres through read-aloud sessions. Her teaching experience also includes her time as a physical education teacher at Central Day School, where she emphasized the importance of healthy living while meeting curriculum objectives creatively and engagingly.
Jenny's commitment to reading readiness and proven teaching strategies make her an invaluable asset in any educational setting. She continues to inspire and guide students toward academic success.
Jenny lives in Collierville with her husband and two teenage daughters. A family of educators, her husband is a 4th-grade teacher in the Collierville School District. In her free time she enjoys watching college football (especially Tennessee Vols) and going to games. She enjoys reading and exercising. She looks forward to her new role as a Reading Readiness Specialist and advocating for her students and families.
Meghan Heimke
Throughout her career as an entrepreneur, marketing professional, and female executive, Meghan has worked with the leadership of some of our country’s most influential employers, including those in financial services, healthcare, non-profits, legal services, food and beverage, and retail to execute strategies and tactics for improved internal and external operations, communication, and marketing efforts. As a woman-owned business, she serves as a trusted partner and advisor to her clients and works to ensure that logistics are considered, maximized, and executed, considering every detail so that they don’t have to. Meghan takes pride in being a problem-solver and enjoys acquiring and auditing companies, then brainstorming and implementing improved strategies, protocols, and practices to help them succeed.
Meghan’s personal experience with dyslexia drives her to be a passionate parent advocate for dyslexic children and families.
